Maryland ESGR Names Top Employers
for 2008

The Maryland ESGR Committee hosted it's 2008 Employer Awards Luncheon on June 26, 2008 in Timonium to honor those employers who have gone "Above and Beyond" the requirements of federal in supporting their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.

State ESGR Chairman George L. Doetsch, Jr., President and CEO of Apple Ford in Columbia, recognized Maryland organizations which have been nominated for the 2008 Secretary of Defense's "Freedom Award" in three categories.  They were:

  • Employers with more than 500 employees:Baltimore Aircoil Company, Gathersburg, represented by Mr. Steven Duerwachter, President.

  • Employers with less than 500 employees: Summit Solutions, LLC., Ellicott City, Md., represented by Mrs. Moria Mattingly, President.

  • Public Service Organization: Anne Arundel County Fire Department, represented by Fire Chief David Stokes.

The Pro Patria Award was presented all three Freedom Award nominees. This award is the he highest state level recognition given to a civilian employer.

The "Above and Beyond" Award was given to 32 other Maryland companies who were nominated by their Guard/Reserve employees for their outstanding support.
