Maryland ESGR Names Top Employers
for 2007

The Maryland ESGR Committee hosted it's 2007 Employer Awards Luncheon on May 4, 2007 in Timonium to honor those employers who have gone "Above and Beyond" the requirements of federal in supporting their employees who serve in the Guard and Reserve.

State ESGR Chairman Maj. Gen. Boyd Cook (MD Army National Guard, Retired) recognized Maryland organizations which have been nominated for the 2007 Secretary of Defense's "Freedom Award" in three categories.  They were:

  • Employers with more than 500 employees: SODEXHO USA, Gathersburg, represented by Mr. Dick Macedonia, President & CEO.

  • Employers with less tan 500 employees: Machining Technologies, Inc., Salisbury, represented by Mr. Rafael Correa, President.

  • Public Service Organization: The Mayor & Common Council of Westminster, Maryland represented by Mayor Thomas Ferguson.

The Pro Patria Award was presented to SODEXHO USA in Westminster.  This award is the he highest state level recognition given to a civilian employer.

The "Above and Beyond" Award was given to 25 other Maryland companies who were nominated by their Guard/Reserve employees for their outstanding support.

In addition, SODEXHO has been selected by National ESGR Committee as the Freedom Award Winner for Large Employers. SODEXHO will be recognized at the Freedom Award Dinner in Washington D.C. on September 12, 2007.
