| Maryland ESGR and the US Air Force Reserve invited 13 Maryland employers to take a tour of Andrews AFB and then fly a mission on a KC-135R Stratotanker to refuel an Airborne Warning And Control System (AWACS) aircraft over the Atlantic Ocean, but, as often happens in the military, the mission changed that morning. Instead of a quick run over to the coast, the aircraft from the 459th Air Refueling Wing was sent to the Alabama/Louisiana border at the Gulf of Mexico. All of the participants got more flight time than expected, but they were able to watch refueling operations from their own aircraft, but observe another KC-135 refueling an AWACS out the side of the aircraft. |
